About Us

American Legion Post 269, Patchogue NY.

The American Legion is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit Patriotic Veterans organization.

The American Legion focuses on service to veterans, service members, and the community.  It provides a place for veterans and current service members to meet and enjoy the comradeship that comes with the shared experiences from serving in the Armed Forces of the United States.

Patchogue Post 269 applied for its charter on August 15, 1919 and the charter was approved on February 10, 1921.  The Post was given the permanent official Charter on March 25th, 1921.  The first Commander was Dr. Frank Overton.

The Post is located at the corner of South Ocean Avenue and Baker Street, right next to Village Hall. The building sits at the back of the Harry T. Hanson Veterans Memorial Park.  The cornerstone of our building was laid in 1924.  Parking is available on Baker Street.
