About Us
American Legion Post 269, Patchogue NY.
The American Legion is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit Patriotic Veterans organization.
The American Legion focuses on service to veterans, service members, and the community. It provides a place for veterans and current service members to meet and enjoy the comradeship that comes with the shared experiences from serving in the Armed Forces of the United States.
Patchogue Post 269 applied for its charter on August 15, 1919 and the charter was approved on February 10, 1921. The Post was given the permanent official Charter on March 25th, 1921. The first Commander was Dr. Frank Overton.

The Post is located at the corner of South Ocean Avenue and Baker Street, right next to Village Hall. The building sits at the back of the Harry T. Hanson Veterans Memorial Park. The cornerstone of our building was laid in 1924. Parking is available on Baker Street.

Membership
Membership is restricted to active duty Service Members and Honorably Discharged Veterans who served during time of war as defined by the dates of:

December 7, 1941 To Today.
April 6, 1917 To November 11, 1918 - World War I.

December 20, 1989 To January 31, 1990 - Operation Just Cause - Panama
August 24, 1982 To July 31, 1984 - Lebanon/Grenada
February 28, 1961 To May 7, 1975 - Vietnam
June 25, 1950 To January 31, 1955 - Korea
January 1, 1947 to December 31, 1991 - Cold War
December 7, 1941 To December 31, 1946 - World War II
April 6, 1917 To November 11, 1918 - World War I.

Meeting Times And Hours Of Operation
Executive Board meetings are held on the first Monday of every month and start at 7:30 PM at the Post.
Membership meetings are held on the second Monday of every month and start promptly at 8 PM at the Post.
The Dugout is open to members and friends on Friday evenings from 7 PM to 11 PM and Sunday afternoons from 3 PM to 7 PM.
